A young boy and his dog, a magic tree, and the struggle to survive on a mysterious island.
On a voyage to find fertile land to farm, Koby and his family and friends are shipwrecked and stranded on a desert island. When they try to fell trees to repair the ships, they meet with an unexpected, ghostly resistance they cannot explain. Koby’s strict father forbids him to even ask about the incident, but Koby secretly investigates on his own.
Koby finds a magic tree that is behind their troubles. The tree forbids the people to fell trees, hunt deer, or even slaughter their own livestock, and demands they leave at once or terrible things will happen. Koby’s elders won’t listen and don’t believe him when Koby tells them about the threat.
The magic tree sends storms to wipe them off the island and destroys the ships, preventing Koby and his people from sailing away, leaving Koby and his family at the mercy of the tree, its magic, and threats.
Wishing to earn his father’s love and to save his people, Koby bargains with the old tree. Can Koby earn his father’s love and at the same time convince the magic tree to keep the peace and let them live?
